Summary:
As Director of Automation, you will lead/facilitate automation and manufacturing advancements across our independent subsidiary companies.
This position is focused on capacity improvement and manufacturing systems enhancement to meet the needs and expectations of our boss, the customers.
Key deliverables are strategically integrating automation, project planning, working side by side with your team to drive and influence project stakeholders every day to deliver world-class automation solutions and manufacturing advancements on time and on budget.
You will execute multiple projects concurrently and prioritize your time and energy effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Create corporate (macro) and subsidiary (micro) structures needed to properly implement an automation department Collaborate with production, new product engineering, industrial engineering, and IT to create smooth operational procedures Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals Deliver measurable improvement to manufacturing throughput, capacity, and process SKILLS/
Qualifications:
Solid understanding of the fundamentals of automation and/or manufacturing Ability to prioritize projects at a subsidiary/industry level based on KPI's Firsthand experience designing, building, and/or commissioning industrial automation systems In-depth knowledge of challenges associated with implementation of automation Ability to form relationships with integrators and suppliers Understanding of steps needed between current automation level and automation goal Track record of leading a team in successful projects or key deliverables of projects Power to motivate your team and successfully remove project roadblocks Ability to mentor team members to amplify your impact on the team's overall success Expert level of professionalism, leadership and emotional intelligence when facing tough conversations and project challenges High attention to detail with the ability to recognize the projects key requirements A portfolio of projects in which you made significant contributions as a leader Experience with forecasting budgets, schedules and workloads for multidisciplinary teams Experience/Training with project management methodologies Drive to continuously improve, take on new responsibilities and raise the bar Commitment to developing strong relationships with the project team Must be able to make justifications for hiring their team and present plants with justification needed to hire the required onsite personnel EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Requires a B.
S.
in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technologies, or similar A minimum of five years' experience with robotics, automation, or PLC programming Ability to manage team members located in other company sites Knowledge of machining operations, lean manufacturing, and automation equipment is required Strong project management skills with the ability to lead a direct team is required Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered Some travel between subsidiaries and vendors, both in US and Canada, will be required Background Check and 6 panel (no THC) Drug screen required.
